Google TV makes your normal TV set a web TV.
For people who donot know what google tv is its simply a device that connects your TV set to the internet (wireless or cable). Android OS is installed inside the device and hence you get many Android Apps for free, also Chrome browser is available on the device.
For certain TV sets google tv is preinstalled (e.g for Sony Internet TV), for other TV sets you can buy a device from Logitect or buy a Sony DVD player that comed embedded with Google TV.
Why Logitech device is good and why it is particularly good for NRI's.
1. First, because of the price. When google tv was launched at that time the price was high, but now the price of the logitech device is reduced to 99$, hence it is not that expensive now considering that it might help to cut your cable bills.
2. Logitech keyboard to handle the browser on the TV is excellent. It does get time to use to it but over a period of time you might find it to be more convenient then other methods available for browsing.
3. Many of the indian channels (e.g. Sony, Sahara etc) are now telecasting their TV content on youtube. Youtube runs on google TV like a charm and the quality is enhanced to suit to higher pixel ratio's on the LCD/LED tv's. Also the best part is most of this content is FREE. Hence you can watch a lot of daily soaps for free using this.
4. Flash runs on google TV. So if you are interested in browsing flash content on TV e.g rajshri.com that shows lots of free movies, you can easily browse and watch them.
5. A lot of free Android Apps are also available and you can also install from the store. Now there is a new App to watch live indian channels as well. Checkout on the App Store.
